"Are You Now" was originally conceived as a whisper from an angel into the ears of anyone hospitalized with COVID-19 and unable to be visited by friends or family. The seed of the song came when one of Mandy's friends caught COVID and became unreachable for days and days. From there it grew into a song of encouragement for anyone isolated and alone for any reason. It brings a message of hope that any and all circumstances can be overcome. This song isn't for the cynics (even though we've both spent some time in that camp). People are more isolated and disconnected than ever, and this song attempts to break through. No matter the circumstances, and whether our messes are self-created ("isolater rager, medicate enabler"), political ("ignore the nay-sayer,"), or circumstantial ("what do to, we can't deny the news"), there is support and love out there if one is willing to "look out of your window."
